Healthy Living Blog: Why Your Body Responds to What You Believe – The Science of Aging Better with Allison Maslan

Have you ever taken something for a health issue and then, weeks later, realized it was just… gone? You weren’t even sure when it cleared up. That’s exactly what happened to me with homeopathy and the more I’ve learned about it, the more I understand why it works that way.

I’ve talked a lot on this show about hormones, nutrition, gut health…the “physical” levers we can pull to feel better in midlife. But what if there’s an entire dimension of healing that most of us in the Western world have completely overlooked? What if the reason you still feel off, despite doing everything “right,” is because nobody has addressed your body as an energy system?

I brought back one of my closest friends, Allison Maslan, for exactly this conversation. Allison is a serial entrepreneur, founder of Pinnacle Global Network, a bestselling author, and most relevant to today’s episode a classically trained homeopath who ran her own practice for 20 years in San Diego and founded the first homeopathic college in Southern California. She’s also in her early 60s, flies trapeze, and is very much living proof that midlife is not the beginning of the end. Her most impactful work? It happened in her 50s and continues today.

This episode goes deep on homeopathy, the science of energy medicine, how to use your mind to age biologically younger, and a specific morning practice called Vision Crafting that is genuinely changing the trajectory of my days. If you’re a midlife woman who feels like she’s tried everything and still can’t quite figure out why her body isn’t cooperating, lean in.

What Is Homeopathy and Why Have You Never Learned About It?

Most of us in the U.S. have heard of arnica. Maybe you’ve used it for bruising or muscle soreness after a hard workout. But ask someone to explain what homeopathy actually is, and you’ll get a lot of shrugs or outright skepticism.

Here’s what Allison wants you to understand: homeopathy is a 200-year-old science developed by a German physician named Samuel Hahnemann. It operates on a principle called the Law of Similars: the idea that a substance in nature that produces symptoms similar to what you’re experiencing can, in a highly diluted form, help your body clear those exact symptoms. The theory is that your body cannot hold two “like” states simultaneously, so one cancels the other out.

There are now over 4,000 homeopathic remedies, derived from plants, minerals, and animal substances. The remedies are diluted to the point where the original substance is no longer present; what remains is, essentially, the energy imprint of it. This is where most Western-trained minds hit a wall. “There’s nothing in there,” critics say. But Allison points to animal studies including a powerful story about shelter animals suffering from smoke inhalation who were treated with a homeopathic lung remedy and recovered as evidence that placebo isn’t the full explanation.

Interestingly, homeopathy is practiced as primary medicine in much of Europe and is even taught in German medical schools. At the turn of the 20th century, the U.S. had numerous homeopathic hospitals. The only monument to a medical doctor in Washington, D.C.? It’s to Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy. The decline of homeopathy in the American mainstream largely coincided with the rise of pharmaceutical antibiotics and the economic incentives that came with them.

Homeopathy for Menopause and Perimenopause: A Different Kind of Relief

This is where it gets really relevant for you. If you’re in perimenopause or menopause and you’re either not a candidate for hormone therapy, don’t want to use hormones, or you’re on HRT but still experiencing lingering symptoms, homeopathy is worth understanding.

Allison treated hundreds of women through menopause using classical homeopathy. She explains that the approach is highly individualized…it’s not a one-size-fits-all protocol. A homeopath will conduct an extensive intake, sometimes lasting an hour or more, asking questions that seem completely unrelated to your hot flashes. Your answers help them identify the one constitutional remedy that matches your entire state physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Allison used this approach on herself when menopause hit her suddenly and hard. She describes feeling like she fell off a cliff anxiety, depression, sleep disruption, all at once. A homeopathic remedy called sepia ultimately helped bring her back into balance, stopping hot flashes and restoring her sleep. She notes that with what she knows today, she would also incorporate hormone replacement – she’s not an either/or person. But homeopathy was her lifeline at the time, and she credits it in large part for her health today.

One of the fascinating hallmarks of classical homeopathy is its precision. For example, when a remedy is selected for hot flashes, the timing matters: do yours come on at 3am? Or when you first open your eyes in the morning? Or at 10pm? Each of these specifics helps narrow the remedy down to the one most precisely matched to your body’s experience.

How to Find a Qualified Homeopath

Allison strongly recommends working with a classically trained homeopath rather than picking remedies off the shelf at a health food store (though acute home use is possible with some guidance). Look for these credentials when choosing a practitioner:

  • CCH – Certified Classical Homeopath
  • RSHom(NA) – Registered with the Society of Homeopaths, North America

For a beginner’s introduction to the system, she recommends a book called The Patient’s Guide to Homeopathy as a starting point. She also suggests ruling out general “holistic” practitioners who use the term loosely classical homeopathy is a specific, rigorous science.

Everything Is Energy And That’s Not Just Woo-Woo

One of the most consistent things Allison says when you present her with a problem (any problem: health, business, or life) is: “Everything is energy.” It sounds abstract until she grounds it in physics.

At the molecular level, everything including your body, your thoughts, the computer you’re reading this on is condensed energy. Einstein’s work confirms this. What homeopathy does in treating the energetic imprint of a substance mirrors what quantum physics describes: matter is not as solid as it appears. Your sight is formed through light vibration. Sound is vibration. You are, in essence, a walking energy system and what you put out, you receive back.

This isn’t a prompt to abandon your medical care or your HRT. It’s an invitation to consider that addressing your body on an energetic level through homeopathy, mindset work, and visualization may be a powerful and underutilized complement to the physical interventions most of us focus on.

Your Brain Doesn’t Know the Difference So Use That

Here’s something Allison said that I keep thinking about: your brain cannot distinguish between a vividly imagined experience and a real one. The same neural pathways fire either way. This is neuroscience, not wishful thinking.

Allison references a landmark study from the 1980s in which men in their 70s and 80s were placed in an immersive environment designed to mirror the world as it was when they were young. For one week, everything around them (the music, the magazine covers, the TV shows etc.) reflected an earlier era of their lives. Researchers measured their physical vitals before and after. By the end of the week, many of the men had improved eyesight, improved hearing, and better mobility. Some had discarded their canes. Some played touch football.

More recently, a study out of Israel found measurable immune system improvements when participants began speaking about themselves and their lives more positively. The power of the brain to alter the physical body is not metaphor. It is documented biology.

Allison applies this daily. Each morning, she tells herself she feels 35. Not as a denial of her actual age she has zero shame about being in her early 60s but as an intentional neurological signal. Her body remembers what 35 felt like. When she activates that memory with clarity and feeling, her nervous system responds accordingly. As Wayne Dyer put it: never let an old person move into your body.

Vision Crafting: The Morning Practice That’s Changing Everything

This is the practical piece I know many of you have been waiting for. Allison has spent decades piecing together a morning process she calls Vision Crafting a blend of visualization, journaling, gratitude, and intention-setting that she does every single day without exception.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Start with something uplifting. Before your feet hit the floor and before you check your phone, turn on something that elevates your energy: a motivational talk, uplifting music, a spiritual reading. Your brain wakes up in a neutral or mildly anxious state by default. You’re pre-empting that.
  2. Journal gratitude as if it’s already happening. Not “I’m grateful for my health” but “I am so happy and grateful that my biopsy came back negative.” Write it in the present tense, as though it has already materialized. Gratitude and fear cannot occupy the same mental space simultaneously.
  3. Write your intentions. Across all areas: health, finances, relationships, business, family. Write them as current reality, not future hope.
  4. Visualize with feeling. Close your eyes and step fully into the life you’ve described. The feeling is the critical piece. It’s the feeling that creates the vibration. Joy and exhilaration vibrate at a higher frequency than fear and depression and the body responds differently to each.
  5. Look for the glimpses. These are small pieces of evidence that what you’ve been envisioning is already moving in your direction. A conversation you didn’t expect. A door that opens. Write them down. They build belief, which builds momentum.
  6. Then meditate even briefly. Once your brain is primed and your feelings are elevated, drop into stillness. This can be two minutes or twenty. The difference between this and attempting cold meditation is significant: you’ve already created the right internal environment.

If this sounds time-consuming, Allison has a shortcut: when pressed, she does a condensed 10-minute version. What she never does is skip it entirely and go straight to her phone. On the days she has done that, she notices a measurable difference in her mood, focus, and reactivity for the rest of the day.

Lead From Vision, Not From Pain

One of the most valuable distinctions in this conversation is the difference between leading from vision versus leading from pain. Most people make our biggest life decisions reactively. Something stops working, something hurts, something fails, and then we make a change. We’re constantly responding to what’s wrong.

Allison’s entire life philosophy is built on the opposite: decide where you’re going first, and then move toward it. Make decisions from where you’re headed, not from where you currently are. Your circumstances are energy, they are temporary, they are changeable, and they do not define your future unless you allow them to.

She applied this when she transitioned out of homeopathy into business coaching. When she was a single mother with no money, searching her purses for change to pay for coffee. When she and her husband purchased a seven-bedroom villa in Mexico that was double their original budget because her husband ran the numbers and found a path. None of these outcomes were the result of perfect circumstances. They were the result of holding the vision first.

She has a name for the recovery practice when life pulls you off course: flip switching. Write down the exact opposite of the fear-based or negative thought you’re holding. Then close your eyes and shift the feeling. Her metric is simple: your emotions are your barometer. Feeling bad means you’re out of alignment. Get back to center.

The Infinite Scale Connection: Healing Individuals, Then the World

There’s a beautiful through-line in Allison’s work that only becomes visible when you zoom out. When she was practicing homeopathy, she was healing people one at a time getting to the root of the issue, not treating outward symptoms. When she transitioned to business mentoring through Pinnacle Global Network, she began applying those same principles to organizations. Now she works with thousands of CEOs worldwide, helping them scale not just their revenue but their sense of purpose and human impact.

She’s currently completing her third book, Infinite Scale, which captures the fusion of strategic business methodology and quantum energy principles she’s applied throughout her career. Her second book, Scale or Fail, was a Wall Street Journal bestseller endorsed by Barbara Corcoran and Daymond John.

What You Can Do Starting Today

Whether or not homeopathy ends up resonating with you, here’s what I want you to take from this conversation: you have more tools than you’ve been given credit for. Your mind is not a passive passenger in your health and aging journey. It is one of the most powerful instruments available to you.

Start with just one element of Vision Crafting tomorrow morning. Before you look at your phone, play something that makes you feel expansive: a talk, a song, anything. Notice how it affects the first hour of your day. That’s the entry point.

If homeopathy is something you want to explore further, look for a CCH or RSHom(NA) certified classical homeopath. Pick up The Patient’s Guide to Homeopathy as a foundation.
